Veliko Tarnovo is the historical and spiritual capital of Bulgaria. A town with age-long traditions, rich cultural and historical heritage. A contemporary and fast-growing university town.
The Veliko Tarnovo SDA Church was founded in 1952. It is currently located on the ground floor of a 10-story apartment building.
The main problem of the church in Veliko Tarnovo is that it is far from the people - almost out of town. The space is small and does not suit the needs of the church.
Therefore, during the past 5 years, the church has been praying and actively working on achieving their dream – having a new prayer house. In 2019 a land lot for the new building was purchased.
The property is situated in the new center of the town. The area is bustling because of the many shopping centers. Moreover, the nearby park is always full of people. 72% of the citizens of Veliko Tarnovo live within a 1 – kilometer radius from the location of the new prayer house.
The purchase of the land was funded by donations (domestic and offshore) and by the Bulgarian SDA Union.
The purchase of the land was just the beginning of the project. The construction of the new church building lies ahead. However, the funds collected up to now were spent on the acquisition of the land. At the moment architects are working on the design of the building along with other ongoing administrative procedures. The funding for them is already secured.
However, for the actual construction work, an amount of money is needed that is beyond the local church's capabilities.
